What’s So Funny?

01 Jun What’s So Funny?

Humor sells. Humor makes things memorable. Humor, when used well, sets you apart from the crowd.

I got an email from RedBox that promoted “PetBox.” I loved it! What a clever way to get me talking about their product! Of course it was just a silly promotion but it actually endeared the company to me because I am a huge animal lover.

One of our clients has a company that focuses on helping their clients use humor effectively. We wrote a white paper for them that dives deep into using humor effectively and investigating the fine line that is easy to cross to make something just plain stupid or even offensive.

An important part of using humor effectively is to keep the message simple by not including too much information. For instance, Ameriquest Mortgage creates everyday situations that the average person can identify with. Then it stops the action in the middle of an awkward moment that can be easily misinterpreted. Their consistent message is: “Don’t judge too quickly. We won’t.” They want the consumer to understand that their circumstances will not be judged too quickly either. The message is clear.
